Nigel moved to Aberdeen in 2001 and joined the band soon after as one of the early members of 5th Avenue, and as the band started building up a reputation as one of the best function bands in the North East.
Initially a guitarist in his early teens, Nigel soon warmed to bass and loves holding down the groove with the drummer. An accomplished bass player, he loves the variety of music genres played in a wedding and function band.
Nigel has played a variety of basses over the years and currently favours vintage Japanese Tokai basses, or more modern German-made Sandberg and Warwick basses - usually 4-string, but ocasionally 5-string as required. Amplification is a Markbass Little Mark 800 with a Markbass 2 x 12 cab and a TC Electronics 4 x 10 cab.
Effects consist of:
TC Electronic Poplytune 2
Boss GEB-7 Equalizer
Origin Effects Cali76 Bass Compressor
Boss OC-5 Octave
MXR Analog Chorus
NUX MLB Bass Preamp & DI
Nigel quotes Nick Mason, drummer of Pink Floyd, who allegedly said, “A band is made up of a Drummer and a Bassist with additional novelty acts”…. (only kidding guys!).
